Albert Tei questioned over Azam Baki remarks

Businessman Albert Tei records police statement over alleged defamatory remarks against MACC chief Azam Baki, following a report lodged by the anti-graft body.

KUALA LUMPUR: Businessman Albert Tei arrived at Bukit Aman police headquarters to have his statement recorded.

He was there in connection with a police report lodged by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).

The report concerns alleged defamatory remarks made against MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki.

Tei arrived at 10.44 am and was accompanied by his lawyers N. Surendren and Mahajoth Singh.

The statement-recording process concluded at approximately 12.40 pm.

Lawyer Surendren stated his client was summoned to assist an investigation.

The probe is under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act and Section 500 of the Penal Code.

The MACC officer’s report was lodged over a viral social media video clip.

The clip featured a woman and Tei making allegations against Azam Baki.
