Johor probes illegal RON95 filling at Skudai petrol station

Preliminary checks found two RON95 petrol transactions: one into the vehicle’s tank and another into a plastic container in the boot, exceeding the limit set by the Controller of Supplies.

JOHOR BAHRU: The Johor Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) is investigating a viral incident of illegal RON95 fuel filling at a Skudai petrol station.

The probe follows a social media post showing a vehicle allegedly involved in the act on March 21.

State KPDN director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo said premises inspections have been conducted, including reviews of CCTV footage and transaction records.

“Preliminary checks found two RON95 petrol transactions: one into the vehicle’s tank and another into a plastic container in the boot, exceeding the limit set by the Controller of Supplies,” she said.

A case has been filed under the Control of Supplies Regulations 1974 for allegedly defying the Controller’s instructions.

Enforcement teams are carrying out further investigations and have issued reminders to ensure strict compliance.

The ministry will also trace the vehicle owner to be summoned for investigation.

Under the Control of Supplies Act 1961, individuals can face fines of up to RM1 million, imprisonment of up to three years, or both.

For repeat offences, fines may reach RM3 million, with imprisonment of up to five years, or both upon conviction.

Companies can be fined up to RM2 million, with repeat offences attracting penalties of up to RM5 million.

Lilis Saslinda urged the public to report information via WhatsApp at 019-848 8000 or the KPDN e-Complaint portal.
