A man in his 40s is remanded for seven days over the shooting of a petai collector in Senaling, with police confirming his direct involvement and seizing related items.
KUALA PILAH: A man in his 40s has been remanded for seven days in connection with the shooting of a petai collector in Kampung Maasop, Senaling.
Kuala Pilah police chief Supt Muhamad Mustafah Hussin said the suspect was arrested at Kota Kinabalu International Airport on Sunday.
The arrest was made through cooperation with the Sabah Police Contingent Headquarters Criminal Investigation Department.
“Preliminary investigations indicate his direct involvement.
Police also seized items linked to the case,” he said in a statement.
He added that the suspect has a previous criminal record.
The victim was shot by an unknown assailant while collecting petai in a forested area on Dec 12.
He sustained pellet wounds to his right rib and back.
The case is being investigated under Section 307 of the Penal Code for attempted murder.
It is also being probed under Section 3 of the Firearms (Higher Penalties) Act 1971.
