Anwar announces major cabinet reshuffle with 10 new ministers

PM Anwar Ibrahim reshuffles Cabinet with 10 new ministers, 18 deputy ministers and 14 portfolio changes.

PETALING JAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today unveiled a major Cabinet reshuffle, introducing 10 new ministers, 18 new deputy ministers and 14 of portfolio adjustments.

Among the key changes, Hannah Yeoh was shifted from her role as Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Federal Territories), while Datuk Lo Su Fui was appointed Deputy Minister for Federal Territories.

Datuk Mustafa Sakmud takes on the role of Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Sabah and Sarawak Affairs) and Dr Zulkifli Hassan has been appointed Minister for Religious Affairs with Ustazah Marhamah Rosli serving as Deputy Minister.

In the finance and economic portfolios, Liew Chin Tong has been reassigned as Deputy Finance Minister.

Akmal Nasrullah Muhammad Nasir has been appointed Economy Ministry, assisted by Datuk Indera Muhammad Syah Abdullah as Deputy Minister.

Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani is now Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) Minister, with Sim Tze Tzin as his deputy.

Steven Sim Chee Keong has been reassigned as Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister, overseeing micro, small, and medium enterprises (SMEs), while Datuk Muhammad Alamin was named Deputy Minister.

Other key appointments include Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup, son of former president of the Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) Tan Sri Joseph Kurup as Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability Minister, Syed Ibrahim Syed Noh as deputy.

Datuk Seri Dr Noraini Ahmad was named Plantation and Commodities Minister with Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii reassigned as Deputy Minister.

In the human resources and youth sectors, Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan takes charge as Human Resources Minister, supported by Datuk Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan as deputy, while Dr Muhammad Taufik Johari has been appointed Youth and Sports Minister, assisted by Mordi anak Bimol.

Chiew Choon Man and Yuneswaran Ramaraj were appointed Deputy Ministers of Tourism, Arts and Culture and National Unity respectively.

Several deputy ministers have also been reassigned, including Datuk Chan Fung Hin (Agriculture and Food Security), Datuk Lukanisman Awang Sauni (Foreign Affairs), Lim Hui Ying (Women, Family and Community Development), Adam Adli Abdul Halim (Higher Education), Datuk Hajah Hanifah Hajar Taib (Health), and Datuk Seri Abdul Rahman Muhammad (Energy Transition and AI Transformation).

Anwar said the swearing-in ceremony, with the consent of His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, will be held tomorrow at 10am at Istana Negara, followed by a Cabinet meeting at 2.30pm.

He expressed his gratitude to ministers and deputy ministers who had previously served the nation, adding that the reshuffle was necessary to fill existing vacancies and ensure a more cohesive and effective Cabinet.

“The changes focus on strengthening teamwork within the Cabinet, sharpening its focus on economic growth, and addressing public concerns,” Anwar said.
