GRS chairman Hajiji Noor suggests he may serve as Sabah chief minister for another five years if his coalition wins the 17th state election
TUARAN: Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has indicated he may continue as Sabah’s chief minister for another five years if his coalition wins the upcoming state election.
He aims to lead GRS to a significant victory to continue implementing the Sabah Maju Jaya development roadmap before eventually handing over responsibilities to his successor.
“Not good to become Chief Minister for too long,” Hajiji said at the Tuaran Community Development Leaders Unit Sports and Family Day closing ceremony at Dewan Seri Sulaman.
“Even if you are too good, people will assume that we are weak… sentimental,” he added.
The incumbent Sulaman assemblyman stated he has worked diligently to develop the state and its people, including those in his constituency.
He highlighted numerous high-impact initiatives successfully implemented by the GRS government across economy, investment, education and welfare sectors.
Hajiji yesterday announced 51 GRS candidates for the 17th Sabah state election.
Four additional candidates were announced today, bringing the coalition’s total to 55 contenders.
The new candidates are Rafie Robert for Bingkor, Datuk Hassan A Gani Pg Amir for Sebatik, Samsiah Usman for Kukusan and Assoc Prof Dr Bonaventure Boniface for Tamparuli.
The Election Commission has set polling day for November 29, with early voting on November 25 for the 73-seat state assembly election. – Bernama
