Newly appointed Perlis Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah vows to foster unity between PAS and Bersatu representatives and continue state development.
ARAU: Newly appointed Perlis Menteri Besar Abu Bakar Hamzah has pledged to maintain unity among Perikatan Nasional state assemblymen.
He welcomed the decree from the Raja of Perlis urging all PN representatives to unite for the state’s well-being.
“There is no question of whether PAS or Bersatu is superior,” Abu Bakar told reporters after his swearing-in ceremony at Istana Arau.
He stressed that PAS and Bersatu are one family within the PN coalition.
Abu Bakar said he will continue current policies and maintain good ties with the federal government.
This is to ensure Perlis receives backing for its continued development.
On the state executive council lineup, he said minor reshuffles will be undertaken.
He promised the portfolio distribution will be balanced between PAS and Bersatu assemblymen.
“We will ensure balance, as PN is a coalition of PAS and Bersatu, and InsyaAllah, equality will be upheld,” he added.
Abu Bakar expressed gratitude to the Raja of Perlis for entrusting him with the responsibility to lead.
He also conveyed appreciation to former Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli for his contributions.
Shukri’s tenure ended on December 25 due to health reasons.
