Sabah early voting records strong 92.5% turnout rate

Sabah state election early voting achieves 92.5% turnout with 17,615 military and police personnel casting ballots ahead of November 29 polling.

KOTA KINABALU: Early voting for the 17th Sabah state election recorded a strong 92.5% turnout today.

Election Commission secretary Datuk Khairul Shahril Idrus confirmed 17,615 early voters cast their ballots.

Early voters comprised armed forces personnel and their spouses along with police personnel including General Operations Force members.

Voting commenced at 8 am across 58 stations throughout Sabah and concluded at 5 pm.

A total of 8,347 armed forces personnel and spouses were eligible to vote alongside 10,696 police personnel and spouses.

“The EC congratulates all returning officers and their teams for having done their duties well today,” Khairul Shahril said in a statement.

He extended thanks to the Sabah state secretary’s office, Sabah federation secretary’s office, Royal Malaysia Police, Malaysian Armed Forces, and media practitioners for their cooperation.

Regular voters throughout Sabah will cast their ballots on November 29.
