STAR pledges support for Sabah CM Hajiji, reaffirms state rights

STAR president Jeffrey Kitingan commits to supporting Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor and pushing for Sabah’s 40% revenue entitlement

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (STAR) president Datuk Seri Dr Jeffrey Kitingan has pledged his party’s support for Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.

In a statement today, he committed to contributing constructively to the government’s development, stability and progress agenda.

He said Sabah deserves a government that works together, particularly on constitutional rights and long-term sovereignty matters.

STAR extended congratulations to Hajiji on his reappointment as Sabah Chief Minister.

The party respects the people’s decision and acknowledges the democratic process reflecting Sabahans’ voice and aspirations.

“STAR also expresses its deepest gratitude to all supporters across the state, especially to the voters of Tambunan and Bingkor, for once again placing their trust in our leadership and candidates,” said the statement.

“The confidence given strengthens our resolve to serve Sabah with integrity and purpose.”

Jeffrey reiterated STAR’s long-standing commitment toward fulfilling Sabah’s 40% revenue entitlement under the Federal Constitution.

He emphasized that negotiations can only occur on a government-to-government basis.

Strong, principled voices are crucial for Sabah in this process, according to Jeffrey.

“This struggle has always been at the core of STAR, and we stand ready to support any sincere and courageous effort to secure what rightfully belongs to Sabah,” the statement added.

Official results from the 17th Sabah state election show GRS securing 29 seats.

Parti Warisan obtained 25 seats as the closest challenger.

Barisan Nasional won 6 seats, UPKO secured 3, and STAR obtained 2.

Independent candidates captured five seats in the state polls.

Pakatan Harapan, Perikatan Nasional, and Parti Kesejahteraan Demokratik Masyarakat each won one seat. – Bernama
