Air ambulance crashes in Jharkhand with seven on board

An air ambulance with seven people on board crashed in India’s Jharkhand state after losing contact with air traffic control.

RANCHI: India’s aviation regulator confirmed an air ambulance crashed in the eastern state of Jharkhand late on Monday.

The Directorate General of Civil Aviation said the Beechcraft C90 aircraft, operated by Redbird Airways, had seven people on board including two crew members.

It took off from Ranchi at 7.11pm local time before requesting a deviation due to weather.

The aircraft subsequently lost communication and radar contact, the DGCA stated in a release.

Search and rescue teams have been dispatched to the crash location.

The Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau is also being sent to investigate the incident.

It was not immediately clear if there were any casualties.
