AMMAN: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced his arrival in Jordan on Sunday as part of a broader Middle East tour focused on security cooperation.
Zelensky stated on social media platform X that security remains the top priority, emphasising the need for all partners to make necessary efforts towards it while confirming that Ukraine is doing its part ahead of important meetings.
This visit follows a series of defence agreements signed with Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, where Ukraine has sought to leverage its expertise in countering Russian drones.
Ukrainian anti-drone experts have been deployed to all three Gulf nations since Iran responded to US-Israeli aerial bombardments that began over a month ago.
A senior official, speaking anonymously earlier this month, also confirmed that a Ukrainian team is present in Jordan without providing further details.
Ukraine employs a combination of inexpensive drone interceptors, electronic jamming systems and anti-aircraft guns to neutralise Russian drones.
The country has proposed trading its cost-effective interceptors for the expensive air-defence missiles currently used by US allies in the region to counter Iranian drones.
