7 Harimau Malaya players cleared to play after CAS stay

Seven Malaysian national footballers can resume playing after CAS grants a stay of execution on their FIFA-imposed 12-month suspensions.

KUALA LUMPUR: Seven suspended Harimau Malaya players have been cleared to resume their careers after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) granted a stay of execution.

The Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) announced the decision in a statement, confirming the players’ application for a stay had been successful.

This means the 12-month suspension from all football-related activities imposed by FIFA is temporarily suspended.

The players are now allowed to continue their careers and participate in any football-related activities until a final decision on their appeal at CAS is made.

The players involved are Facundo Garcés, Rodrigo Holgado, Imanol Machuca, João Figueiredo, Gabriel Palmero, Jon Irazabal and Héctor Hevel.

FIFA had previously suspended the seven players over allegations of document falsification.
