BRAZIL secured a 2-0 victory over fellow World Cup qualifiers Senegal in a friendly at Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
The five-time world champions dominated the first half with an attacking lineup featuring Estevao, Matheus Cunha, Rodrygo, and Vinicius Jr.
Chelsea’s 18-year-old Estevao opened the scoring in the 28th minute with a precise finish across Senegal goalkeeper Edouard Mendy.
Captain Casemiro doubled Brazil’s lead seven minutes later, beautifully controlling a Rodrygo free-kick before curling into the top corner.
Manchester United’s Cunha had earlier headed against the crossbar as Brazil established firm control.
Senegal’s Iliman Ndiaye missed a clear chance after the break, hitting the outside of the post following sloppy play from Brazil goalkeeper Ederson.
Sadio Mane, the two-time African Player of the Year, was unable to inspire his team and was substituted in the 75th minute.
Brazil qualified for next year’s World Cup in North America after finishing fifth in South American qualifying.
Senegal, the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations champions, secured their World Cup spot last month by beating Mauritania. – AFP
