FIFA summons FAM sec-gen over heritage players forgery probe

FIFA will question FAM’s Datuk Noor Azman Rahman over his alleged role in a document forgery case involving seven national heritage players.

PETALING JAYA: The International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) will summon Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) secretary-general Datuk Noor Azman Rahman.

The summons is part of FIFA’s ongoing investigation into alleged document forgery involving seven national heritage players.

Acting FAM president Datuk Mohd Yusoff Mahadi confirmed the association had received an email from FIFA about the investigation.

He said the probe aims to ascertain Noor Azman’s role and level of involvement in the alleged forgery.

“FIFA wants to gain a clearer understanding of the processes involving Noor Azman and the responsibilities he carried out,” he told a media conference.

Mohd Yusoff said Noor Azman will also be referred to FAM’s own Disciplinary Committee to determine his position.

The committee’s decision will subsequently be referred to the FAM Executive Committee for a final determination on his status.

“It depends on the extent of the offence. If the offence is minor, there are corresponding penalties, and if it is serious, there are heavier penalties.

“Ultimately, the EXCO will make the final decision,” he said.

Noor Azman was suspended with immediate effect in October following the initial FIFA investigation into the status of the seven players.
