Selangor FC will challenge FAM’s RM100,000 fine and spectator ban through Asian International Arbitration Centre after appeal rejection.
KUALA LUMPUR: Selangor FC will challenge the Football Association of Malaysia’s Appeals Committee decision by filing an appeal with the Asian International Arbitration Centre.
The club confirmed it will contest the upheld punishment of a RM100,000 fine and two matches without spectators.
Selangor stated its initial appeal regarding supporter incidents during the October 29 match against Negeri Sembilan FC was rejected on November 25.
The club cited Articles 77 and 129 of the FAM Disciplinary Code, which recognise AIAC as the valid independent arbitration court.
“SFC remains committed and is taking a principled approach in addressing this matter for the good of the club and all Selangor football stakeholders,” the club stated.
Selangor received the punishment following supporter misconduct during the FA Cup quarter-final second leg against Negeri Sembilan.
The incident occurred at Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium in Kelana Jaya on October 29.
FAM Disciplinary Committee Chairman Datuk Baljit Singh Sidhu confirmed the spectator ban would apply to the FA Cup semi-final against Sabah FC on November 30.
The ban also covers Selangor’s first home match in the same competition next season.
Baljit stated the RM100,000 fine was imposed due to repeat offenses under Article 42, Paragraph 1 of the FAM Disciplinary Code.
Selangor advanced to the semi-final this season with a 6-3 aggregate victory. – Bernama
