Nurul Syasya Nadiah Mohd Arifin takes bronze in the women’s 10m air pistol at the SEA Games, with Vietnam’s Trinh Thu Vinh winning gold
NATIONAL shooter Nurul Syasya Nadiah Mohd Arifin settled for bronze in the women’s 10-metre air pistol event at the 33rd SEA Games.
Competing at the Sports Authority of Thailand Shooting Range, she finished third with a total of 218.7 points.
Vietnam’s Trinh Thu Vinh won gold with a new SEA Games record of 242.7 points.
Her compatriot Nguyen Thuy Trang secured the silver medal with 241.7 points.
Nurul Syasya said her rhythm was affected after she briefly lost focus midway through the final.
“Moving forward, I need to stay more focused, address my weaknesses and improve my performance,” she said.
She added that she had given her best but acknowledged the need for improvement.
Nurul Syasya also won a team bronze with Dina Batrisyia Adi Azhar and Joseline Cheah Lee Yean in the women’s 10-metre air pistol team event.
The Malaysian trio accumulated a total of 1,701 points.
Vietnam’s team of Nguyen, Trinh and Trieu Thi Hoa Hong won team gold with a new Games record of 1,711 points.
Thailand’s team took the silver medal with 1,702 points. – Bernama
