PENANG: A 28-year-old technician lost his life when he was in the midst of repairing a lift at a shopping complex in Penang.

According to the Bagan Jermal Fire and Rescue Station Facebook page , the emergency call was made at 4.45pm on Dec 26.

Upon arrival at the scene of the incident, they discovered the victim had gotten his head trapped in between the lift’s doors. And at the same time, there was another victim trapped inside the elevator.

The victim trapped in the elevator was a co-worker.

“Fire and Rescue personnel worked together with the operator to raise the elevator manually to remove the trapped victim and used a duplicate key to rescue the victim trapped inside the elevator.

“The victim (whose head was) stuck had been confirmed dead by Ministry of Health personnel and has been handed over to PDRM for further action.”

According to Harian Metro, the operation to save them took roughly 10 minutes.

The victim’s body was sent to the Penang Hospital for post-mortem, and the case was handed over to the police for further action while the coworker who was trapped inside the lift was sent to the hospital for further medical assistance.
