GETTING a refund when one’s order is wrong is a right of every customer but, of course, there are those who take advantage to score some freebies.
A local coffee chain recently exposed a customer allegedly faking evidence of receiving the wrong order to get free drinks twice.
A worker revealed their “modus operandi” on X where the customer’s refunds had been approved both times on different food delivery applications despite the obvious clues showing their trickery.
In a post dating back to Dec 26 2023, Mieja Ibrahim, the coffee shop’s staff, had shared the complaint issued by the customer stating that they did not receive the correct drink which was a matcha drink.
The customer had attached a picture in their complaint report showing the cup not marked with the specified drink order but Mieja pointed out that the cup’s design was an older one, calling their bluff out already.
Not only that, a security camera footage also showed the customer’s drink being made. According to the footage, the colour of the drink was a hue of green, indicating that the alleged beverage was made correctly.
Mieja mentioned in the comments that the coffee shop can appeal their case as they have evidence highlighting the customer’s lies but did not state whether they have appealed their case.
On Feb 2023, what is believed to be the same customer had made a similar complaint on another food delivery application, once more, claiming to not getting their matcha drink.
The customer’s photo evidence displayed the cup in a white plastic bag with the coffee shop’s name written on it but Mieja pointed out that the shop’s staff do not have such practices and added that the plastic bag was a different one from what the shop used.
“The plastic bag obviously did not come from our shop and my staff never writes (the customer’s orders) like this,” she stated in her post.
