HAVING your things stolen is one of the worst things that can happen as it is an arduous process to try and get them back.

Tired of waiting for the police to take action, a Thai woman decided to try and get her wallet back after it was stolen from a department store in December 2023, alleging that she had trouble filing a complaint about her stolen wallet.

Out of desperation, Pumpim Parichat in a Facebook post, offered a generous sum of THB2,000 (RM267.25) to the person who stole her wallet, promising that she would not report the individual as long as her wallet and bank cards have been returned.

“Consider this as a helping one another. You give my things back, you get more money,” she justified in her post.

In another detailed post days later, Parichat explained that after discovering her items were stolen, she had worked hard to gather whatever evidence she could to hand to the police.

Parichat had gathered security footage of the theft from the department store and nearby locations on Dec 17 and Dec 18 2023, wanting to catch the thief who stole her wallet. On Dec 19, she received a notification alerting her of a purchase using one of her bank cards and went to collect footage of the transaction.

Even with such mounting evidence and visits to the police station four times, a report was still not made of the theft. On Dec 26, a last ditch attempt to make a report failed after Parichat was told that the officer who recorded her complaint was not on duty at the time and there was no way for her to contact him.

After Parichat’s Facebook post went viral, things finally looked up for her as her report was finally submitted to the police on Dec 27 2023 at 8pm.

As of today, there have been no updates about Parichat’s case.
