UMNO Youth chief Akmal Saleh will announce the outcome of his meeting with party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi regarding his party and government positions.
KUALA LUMPUR: UMNO Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh will announce the outcome of his meeting with party president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi tomorrow.
Ahmad Zahid said he met Akmal earlier today and offered his advice. “I have met him earlier… I have given my best advice, and he will announce the outcome of the meeting tomorrow,” he told reporters.
The meeting follows Akmal’s hint that he might step down from his party and government posts. This came after his call for UMNO to withdraw from the Unity Government was rejected by the party leadership.
Akmal had previously stated he would abide by the decisions of Ahmad Zahid and Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh. He currently serves as the Merlimau state assemblyman and Melaka Rural Development, Agriculture and Food Security Committee chairman.
Separately, Ahmad Zahid addressed the second convocation of the UMNO Patriotic School at the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur. He described the school as an institution for shaping minds and the spirit of struggle, not merely a political school.
The convocation celebrated 110 graduates from the school’s Patriot 2 and Patriot 3 cohorts. The school was established to ensure leadership continuity and develop the party’s next generation of leaders.
