Brickfields police destroy RM1.8 million in seized case evidence

Brickfields District Police disposed of over 66,000 case exhibits worth RM1.8 million, including counterfeit money and bitcoin machines, to prevent misuse and uphold public trust.

BRICKFIELDS: Police here have disposed of 66,165 units of case exhibits with an estimated value exceeding RM1.8 million.

The items destroyed included counterfeit currency, bitcoin machines, alcohol, and cigarettes.

Brickfields District Police Chief ACP Hoo Chang Hook said the disposal involved 180 investigation papers from the Criminal Investigation Division and nine from the Commercial Criminal Investigation Division.

The exhibits were collected between 2023 and January 2026, following court destruction and disposal orders.

“The disposal involves an estimated seizure value of RM1,613,736 from BSJ and RM203,530 from BSJK, bringing the total estimated value of the disposal to RM1,817,266,” he said.

A total of 378 units were commercial crime exhibits, while the remaining 65,787 units involved general criminal cases.

These included portable printers, computer sets, gambling equipment, and vice-related items.

Hoo emphasised that the disposal process is a vital element of the criminal justice system.

He stated it ensures exhibit storage facilities remain organised and secure while preventing the risk of misuse.

The event was also attended by Kuala Lumpur Senior Deputy Public Prosecutor Wirna Rifin @ Ariff and Sessions Court Judge Izralizam Sanusi.
