KUALA LUMPUR: New Covid-19 cases today breached the 3,000 mark with 3,142 cases with 15 deaths reported in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative Covid-19 cases in the country to 401,593.
Health Ministry director-general (DG) Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said all the victims who died yesterday were locals, bringing the death toll due to the coronavirus to 1,477.
In his statement today, Dr Noor Hisham said Selangor remains the state with the highest number of new cases at 1,019, followed by Kelantan (523) and Kuala Lumpur (440).
He said in the last 24 hours, 1,822 cases of recoveries were recorded, bringing the cumulative total to 373,397, while active cases were now 26,719.
In addition, he said 306 cases were receiving treatment at intensive care units with 151 of them requiring respiratory assistance.
In the meantime, Dr Noor Hisham said 12 new clusters were reported involving four education sector clusters, four community clusters, two workplace clusters, and one each of high-risk groups as well as religious clusters in Selangor, namely Leboh Gambus and Jalan Sekinchan.
The education sector clusters are called Melugu cluster in Sarawak, Madai (Sabah), Layar Hujung (Kedah) and Jalan Gombak Dua (Selangor) while the community clusters are Ulu Strass in Sarawak, Jalan Maharajalela (Perak), Taman Wira (Johor) and Pintu Air Relau (Kedah).
Workplace clusters were identified in Kuala Lumpur and Johor, namely Jalan Rimbunan and Jalan Bakariah clusters.
