‘He never bought a brand-new car. Every vehicle he drove was second-hand because he was the family’s sole breadwinner.’
A MALAYSIAN man’s heartfelt tribute to his father has touched thousands online after he shared the emotional story behind surprising his dad with the 4×4 car he had always dreamed of owning.
In a video posted on Threads, @zaynzabri’s father is seen surrounded by smiling family members as he unwraps the key to his surprise gift. Overcome with emotion, he is later seen wiping away tears before embracing his loved ones.
@zaynzabri revealed that one of his personal goals was to buy his father the 4×4.
Reflecting on his childhood, zaynzabri said he grew up watching his father work tirelessly to provide for the family.
“Growing up, I watched my father work incredibly hard. When I was in primary school, he worked three jobs. At 6am, he would already be out selling fish.
“In the afternoon, he worked at a school, and at night, he took on a part-time job as a school security guard while waiting for my siblings and me to finish our tuition classes.”

Despite his demanding schedule, his father rarely took a break, even on weekends. Instead, he would spend his free time driving his children to computer classes, believing education was the greatest investment he could make in their future.
“From then until now, education has always been his priority. If there was anything that could help secure his children’s future, he would find a way to provide it.”
As the family’s sole breadwinner while his mother stayed home to care for the children, his father consistently put his family’s needs ahead of his own. Although he dreamed of owning a 4×4, he never bought a brand-new car, opting to drive second-hand vehicles instead.
Now financially stable, zaynzabri said buying the vehicle was his way of thanking his father for the years of love and sacrifice.
“Now that I’m working and have been blessed with some financial stability, I just wanted to give something back to him—even though I know it can never compare to everything he sacrificed for us.
“Thank you, Dad.”
