Trump’s MRI shows excellent cardiovascular health, says physician

President Donald Trump’s recent MRI shows excellent cardiovascular health, according to his physician, who called the scan a preventive measure.

WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump is in “excellent” cardiovascular health, his physician said on Monday.

Doctor Sean Barbabella cited the results of a recent MRI scan taken during an unannounced hospital visit in October.

The memo released by the White House stated the advanced imaging was a preventive measure to identify issues early and confirm overall health.

“Overall, his cardiovascular system shows excellent health,” Barbabella wrote.

He added that Trump’s abdominal imaging was perfectly normal and all major organs appeared very healthy.

The Republican billionaire, who turns 80 in June, has faced long-standing criticism over limited transparency regarding his health.

His sudden October 10 trip to Walter Reed medical center, outside his usual annual exam, spurred widespread speculation.

Trump, the oldest person ever sworn in as US president, had sidestepped questions from reporters about the visit’s purpose.

He repeatedly directed inquiries to his medical team in recent weeks.

The White House has previously attributed bruising on Trump’s right hand to aspirin taken as part of a standard cardiovascular regimen.

Last summer, the administration disclosed Trump was evaluated for leg swelling and diagnosed with chronic venous insufficiency.

That common condition involves faulty vein valves allowing blood to pool, which can cause swelling and cramping.

It is typically managed with medication or targeted procedures and is not considered a serious cardiovascular threat.

MRI scans are commonly used to detect conditions ranging from tumors and strokes to muscle tears and inflammation.

Barbabella emphasised the scan was intended to ensure the president maintains long-term vitality.
