Flood situation improves in Sarawak, Terengganu sees slight rise in victims

Flood victims in Terengganu increase to 326 people, while the situation in Sarawak improves with only 11 evacuees remaining at relief centres.

KUALA LUMPUR: The number of flood victims in Terengganu has increased slightly, while the situation in Sarawak is improving.

As of 5 pm today, 326 people from 101 families were displaced in Terengganu, up from 299 people this morning.

The Terengganu State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat reported that 274 victims are in the Hulu Terengganu district.

They are being housed at five relief centres in Kampung Lubok Periok, Kampung Peneh, Kampung Kemat, Kampung Pelandan and Kampung Tapah.

Another 52 victims in the Kemaman district are at three centres in Kampung Air Putih, Sungai Mas and Dewan Sivik Air Putih.

In Sarawak, the state disaster committee said the flood situation is improving with only two relief centres still open in Miri.

Eleven victims from five families remain at the centres at SK Suai, Niah and the Red Crescent Hall.

This is down from 18 victims from nine families who were displaced this morning. – Bernama
