Tourist calls Malaysia a “city” she dislikes, sparking netizen backlash and a viral geography lesson online.
A foreign passenger travelling to Denpasar, Bali has sparked debate online after accusing Malaysia Airlines (MAS) cabin crew of being rude during his flight.
In a post shared on social media, the man alleged that when he asked a flight attendant where he could refill his water bottle, he was bluntly told to “go to the bathroom,” which he claimed felt dismissive and unprofessional.
The post quickly gained traction — but instead of sympathy, the passenger was met with a wave of netizen backlash.
Many netizens were quick to point out that on most aircraft, the water refill point is located near or inside the lavatory area, making the crew’s response practical rather than rude.
One user called h4zrey commented: “If you need hearing aid, please let me know. Water dispenser is available NEAR bathrooms. Nobody in Malaysia would tell you to drink from bathroom. We in Malaysia even give our cats, Evian.”
“The water dispenser is always placed next to the toilet entrance. Not in the bathroom,” bltkgj_ echoed.
“I believe there are enough water dispensers in KLIA but if you don’t find one, just take out your apple pay and tap at one of the shops. Easy. Good Bye!” spursabadi suggested sarcastically.
Malaysia Airlines later issued a response addressing the incident, saying, “Regarding your other feedback about being asked to drink water from the washroom, we take this seriously and would appreciate more details via our Instagram DM so we can look into it further. Thank you.”
