Cristiano Ronaldo’s brace leads Al Nassr to a record 10th consecutive Saudi Pro League victory, keeping them top with a perfect 30 points
CRISTIANO Ronaldo scored twice as Al Nassr beat Al Okhdood 3-0 to set a new Saudi Pro League record.
The victory marks the first time a team has won its opening 10 matches in the league’s history.
Ronaldo opened the scoring with a close-range finish in the 31st minute after a corner.
He added a spectacular backheel goal in first-half stoppage time to take his season tally to 12.
The Portuguese forward now sits joint-top of the scoring chart alongside teammate João Félix.
Félix sealed the victory with a late strike in second-half stoppage time.
The win keeps Al Nassr top of the table with a perfect 30 points from 10 matches.
They are now four points clear of nearest rivals Al Hilal.
Al Nassr surpassed the previous best start of nine straight victories set by Al Hilal in the 2018-2019 season.
That Al Hilal side was coached by Jorge Jesus, who now leads Al Nassr.
Ronaldo also had a third goal ruled out for offside in the 65th minute.
The match followed the league’s resumption after the Arab Cup in Qatar earlier this month.
