A man pleaded not guilty to cheating two victims of nearly RM300,000 over a fake land grant and a non-existent Datuk title in separate Seremban courts.
SEREMBAN: The husband of an actress pleaded not guilty in two courts here today to charges of cheating two men of a combined RM293,931 over a non-existent state land grant and a bogus Datuk title.
Mohd Apri Hazreen Mohd Aziz, 41, first faced a charge in the Sessions Court for allegedly deceiving a 56-year-old man into transferring RM270,811 into a woman’s bank account between April 2 and November 12, 2025.
The prosecution stated the payment was for a non-existent alienated land in Selangor, an amount the victim would not have parted with had he not been deceived.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Nadia Ezzati Mohamad Zainal proposed bail at RM50,000 with one surety, who must not be the accused’s wife, alongside conditions to surrender his passport and report monthly to police.
Mohd Apri Hazreen, who was unrepresented, pleaded for lower bail citing chronic heart disease and diabetes, while also stating he supports nine children, his unemployed wife, and his mother.
In the Magistrate’s Court, the accused faced a separate charge of cheating a 49-year-old man of RM23,120 over a non-existent Datuk title between January 22 and November 9, 2025.
He was charged under Section 420 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of one to 10 years, with whipping and a possible fine upon conviction.
Sessions Court Judge Mohamad Kamil Nizam set bail at RM25,000 with the prosecution’s conditions, while Magistrate Nurul Saqinah Rosli set bail at RM3,000 for the second charge.
Both courts fixed April 15 for mention of the respective cases.
