Police in Alor Gajah arrested a 26-year-old man for possessing heroin and methamphetamine worth over RM1,300, intended for the local market.
ALOR GAJAH: Police have arrested an unemployed man for allegedly possessing heroin and methamphetamine with an estimated street value of RM1,338.70.
The 26-year-old suspect was detained while riding a motorcycle along the new Ayer Limau–Jeram road in Masjid Tanah on Sunday afternoon.
Alor Gajah police chief Supt Ahmad Abu Bakar said the seizure included 31.26 grammes of heroin and 5.47 grammes of methamphetamine.
He stated the seized drugs were intended for the local market and were capable of supplying approximately 73 users.
“Checks found that the suspect has four prior records under Sections 12(2) and 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952,” he said in a statement.
The suspect also tested positive for drug consumption during the arrest.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
Conviction under this section carries the mandatory death penalty or life imprisonment and 15 strokes of the cane.
