Namewee had special relationship with Taiwanese influencer found dead

Police reveal Namewee had a special relationship with Taiwanese influencer Hsieh Yun Hsin, found dead in KL hotel, case now investigated as murder

KUALA LUMPUR: Local rapper Wee Meng Chee, known as Namewee, had a “special relationship” with the Taiwanese influencer found dead in a hotel room here recently.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus said investigations revealed Namewee had been with the victim when they were abroad until their arrival in Malaysia.

“So far, investigations have found that the suspect did indeed have a special relationship with the victim,” he said at a press conference at the Kuala Lumpur police headquarters.

Fadil said police have recorded statements from all individuals involved in the case.

Police are still awaiting the full post-mortem and toxicology reports on the victim, which are expected to take some time.

He added that the victim’s body has yet to be claimed by her family.

“There was an individual who tried to claim the body, but we could not allow it as there was no authorisation,” Fadil said.

He urged anyone with information about the victim’s family to come forward and assist in the investigation.

Namewee has been remanded to assist in investigations into the death of influencer Hsieh Yun Hsin, 33.

Media reports indicate the rapper’s remand was extended for another three days until Thursday.

His initial remand on November 5 ended yesterday.

Hsieh was found dead in the bathtub of a hotel room in Jalan Conlay on October 22.

The case, initially classified as sudden death, is now being investigated as murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code. – Bernama
