Police detain four motorcyclists in KESAS highway operation

Selangor police inspected 210 motorcyclists, seized 48 bikes and issued 105 summonses in overnight KESAS highway operation against illegal racing

SHAH ALAM: Police inspected 210 motorcyclists and detained four individuals for dangerous riding during an integrated special operation at the Shah Alam Expressway early this morning.

Selangor police chief Datuk Shazeli Kahar said 48 motorcycles were seized under Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

He added that 105 summonses were issued for various offences aimed at curbing illegal street racing.

The operation began at 1.30 am with full road closure between KM18 and KM26 implemented at 3.30 am.

This six-kilometre closure targeted a known racing hotspot along the expressway.

“All seized motorcycles and riders were taken to the Klang Selatan District Police Headquarters for further action,” Shazeli said in a statement.

Five riders tested positive for drugs during the operation.

The Department of Environment issued summonses to three motorcyclists for modified exhausts exceeding noise limits.

Shazeli emphasized that police would continue to step up enforcement to ensure road safety.

He specifically noted increased monitoring in areas frequently used for illegal racing.

The operation concluded at 9.15 am after nearly eight hours of enforcement activities.

A total of 183 personnel from various enforcement agencies participated in the integrated operation.

Participating agencies included the Road Transport Department, Department of Environment, National Anti-Drugs Agency, and KESAS Highway concessionaire. – Bernama
