A retired policewoman arrested for a hit-and-run in Rembau tests positive for amphetamine and is found with ecstasy pills.
SEREMBAN: A retired policewoman arrested over a hit-and-run incident in Rembau last night tested positive for drugs.
Rembau deputy police chief DSP Azmi Ali said the 65-year-old woman was arrested after allegedly crashing into two vehicles and fleeing along the Jalan Seremban-Tampin route towards Bukit Beruang, Ayer Keroh, Melaka.
He said police received a report on the incident at 10.30 pm.
The woman, who was driving a Honda, allegedly rammed into a van driven by a 43-year-old man and a Perodua Viva driven by a 22-year-old man before fleeing. Neither victim was injured.
“Personnel from the Rembau district police headquarters (IPD) mobile patrol vehicle unit attempted to stop the vehicle while on patrol, but the woman refused to cooperate. She was eventually arrested in Jalan Bukit Beruang, Melaka,” he said.
“A body search found no illegal items, but further inspection of the vehicle uncovered a brown zippered bag containing a transparent plastic packet filled with four pills suspected to be ecstasy,” he said in a statement here today.
Azmi said a urine screening test on the woman also found her positive for amphetamine, but she had no prior criminal or drug-related record.
He said the woman was detained at the Melaka Tengah IPD and a remand application was made at the Ayer Keroh Magistrate’s Court this morning.
The case is being investigated under Section 12(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Rule 10 of Road Traffic Rules 166/59.
