Three men arrested for cable theft in Kluang plantation

Police arrest three men aged 27-33 for cable theft at Kluang banana plantation, seizing modified tools and stolen copper wiring

KLUANG: Police have arrested three local men for suspected cable theft at a banana plantation along Jalan Kluang-Renggam.

The suspects, aged between 27 and 33, were apprehended at approximately 3 pm last Friday following surveillance operations.

Kluang police chief ACP Bahrin Mohd Noh said the arrests followed a report lodged on May 2 regarding cable theft in Taman Kluang Barat.

“Initial investigations show the suspects were involved in four cable theft cases in Kluang,” he said in a statement.

The suspects have been remanded for four days from November 29 to December 2 to assist with investigations.

Police seized a modified cable-cutting tool, piles of iron wire and copper cable during the operation.

Authorities also confiscated two sacks of iron wire and six knives from the suspects.

Checks revealed the suspects had previous criminal and drug-related records, although their urine tests returned negative results.

The case is being investigated under Section 431A of the Penal Code, which covers mischief causing damage to public property. – Bernama
