The Housing Ministry has implemented over 2,750 development projects in new villages nationwide from 2023 to 2025, with a total allocation exceeding RM325 million.

SUNGAI SIPUT: The Ministry of Housing and Local Government has implemented 2,759 development projects in new villages nationwide over the past three years. Minister Nga Kor Ming said the projects, carried out across 613 villages, involved a total allocation of RM325.3 million.

These initiatives included 1,786 basic infrastructure works and the renovation of 902 dilapidated housing units. The ministry also completed 62 new houses and installed over 2,300 solar LED street lights for resident safety.

A further RM15 million was allocated for 89 Indian Villages nationwide. This funding covered upgrades to public infrastructure, community halls, drainage systems, and the development of MADANI food courts and parks.

Nga made the announcement at a press conference after the “Sentuhan Kejayaan Kampung Baru” programme here. He said the Local Government Department completed 15,802 public infrastructure projects nationwide in the same period.

“We care, we serve and, most importantly, we deliver,” he stated. The minister noted this exceeded his initial target of 5,000 projects per year.

Nga also highlighted the revival of 1,333 sick projects over the past three years. This included 34 PR1MA housing projects previously classified as sick or abandoned.

“Today, I can confidently declare that all PR1MA projects nationwide are 100% complete,” he said. He added that no affected projects remain after three years of work.

In a statement, KPKT detailed 858 development projects implemented last year alone with RM100.5 million. These included 560 basic facilities and infrastructure upgrades like roads and community halls.

The ministry repaired 279 houses under the Kampung Baru House Restoration Assistance Programme last year. It also built 19 new houses under the Kampung Baru MADANI People’s Housing Programme.

KPKT implemented 11 socio-economic programmes for new villages last year with RM2.49 million. These initiatives benefited 1,895 residents and entrepreneurs.

During his visit, Nga inspected several completed projects. These included a community hall upgrade costing RM199,630 and market upgrades each worth RM500,000.

He later officiated the completion of a new house in Kampung Baru Simpang Jalong. Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad built 19 new houses at a cost of RM1.51 million.

For this year, an allocation of RM1.8 million is provided under the Rumah MADANI Rakyat Kampung Baru programme.
