DBKL issued 10 compound notices and seized equipment during Ops Tebah on entertainment centres in Kuala Lumpur.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) issued 10 compound notices and carried out three seizure actions in an operation dubbed Ops Tebah on five entertainment premises conducted together with several enforcement agencies.
It said in a statement on Facebook that the operation was conducted on entertainment centres in Jalan Telawi, Bangsar; Jalan Sultan Azlan Shah, and Jalan Imbi, Bukit Bintang, which are believed to be operating without a licence and violating licence conditions, in addition to inspections on the premises’ visitors.
The integrated operation with the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), Federal Territory Islamic Religious Department (JAWI), and Royal Malaysian Customs Department (JKDM) started at 11 pm on Saturday and ended at 7 am on Sunday.
“Three seizure actions involving various musical equipment were carried out, and 10 compound notices were issued for various offences, including conducting entertainment activities without a licence, employing foreign workers without valid permits, conducting business outside the scope of the licence, food handlers without typhoid vaccinations, and allowing underage visitors to enter the premises.
“The offences involved the Food Establishment Licensing By-Laws (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) 2016, the Entertainment Regulations (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) 1993, and the Entertainment Act (Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur) 1992,” according to the statement.
According to DBKL, all the seized musical equipment and items have been transferred to the DBKL Seizure Store for record-keeping and documentation purposes.
“Meanwhile, the AADK detained five individuals after they tested positive for drugs through urine screenings and brought them to the AADK Headquarters in Kuala Lumpur for further action under the Drug Dependants (Treatment and Rehabilitation) Act 1983.
“The JKDM issued two notices to the owners of entertainment premises to report to its office because they are suspected of violating excise regulations and selling liquor retail without a licence under the Excise Act 1976,” according to the statement.
The same statement mentioned that JAWI also issued 52 attendance order notices to Muslim patrons at the entertainment centres involved to assist in the investigation related to the offence of consuming intoxicating drinks under the Syariah Criminal Offences (Federal Territories) Act 1997.
DBKL said it will continue operations and monitoring from time to time at the identified locations to ensure compliance with the law and licensing conditions.
