Sultan Ibrahim loans two high-powered airboats to the federal government to assist in flood rescue operations and preparedness efforts.
KUALA LUMPUR: The federal government has thanked Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, for granting permission to use two of his high-powered airboats for flood rescue operations.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the royal support reflects the King’s deep concern for the safety and welfare of the people in flood-hit areas.
“On behalf of the MADANI Government, I extend our highest appreciation,” Anwar said in a Facebook post.
He stated this support would strengthen preparedness and streamline rescue operations should a second wave of flooding occur.
Anwar added that close cooperation among agencies would help enhance aid delivery and safeguard public safety.
A statement on the King’s Facebook page confirmed the loan of the two airboats.
It cited the current unpredictable weather and the need to ensure rescue agencies are prepared.
In March 2023, three of the King’s airboats were mobilised to rescue and assist flood victims in Johor.
The assets were also used to deliver food supplies to cut-off Orang Asli settlements in Kluang. – Bernama
