Flood evacuees in Sabah increase to 510, while numbers drop in Johor and Sarawak as some relief centres close.
KUALA LUMPUR: Flood evacuee numbers have risen in Sabah while declining in Johor and Sarawak.
A total of 607 victims remain at temporary relief centres across the three states this afternoon.
In Sabah, the State Disaster Management Committee reported an increase to 510 people from 164 families.
This is up from 495 people from 159 families recorded this morning following persistent rain since Friday.
In Beaufort, 328 victims from 118 families are sheltering at the Dewan Selagon permanent relief centre.
In Kota Kinabalu, 182 victims from 46 families are at the PPS at Dewan Masjid Al-Munir, Kampung Darau.
Authorities are closely monitoring water levels and assisting with evacuations to safer areas.
In Sarawak, only one relief centre remains operational at Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bekenu in Miri.
It is housing 47 victims from 18 families as of 4 pm today.
Floods in Kuching and Lawas have fully receded, with all eight centres there closing from 12.30 pm.
In Johor, the number of victims decreased to 50 people from 15 families this afternoon.
This is down from 85 victims from 25 families reported this morning.
Two centres are still operating in Segamat, according to Johor JPBN chairman Datuk Asman Shah Abd Rahman.
The Kampung Batu Badak Community Hall is housing 36 victims from 11 families.
Another 14 victims from four families are at the Kampung Tandong Multipurpose Hall.
Three rivers in the state remain at warning levels.
These are Sungai Muar in Buloh Kasap, Segamat, Sungai Tekam Jetty, Segamat, and Sungai Pulai in Kampung Ulu Pulai, Pontian.
