MCMC trains AI talent through 1Prompt Engineer, 1NADI

MCMC’s 1Prompt Engineer, 1NADI programme aims to produce AI prompt engineers at every NADI centre nationwide, boosting digital literacy

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) is empowering the community with artificial intelligence (AI) skills through the ‘1Prompt Engineer, 1NADI’ programme, aiming to produce AI prompt engineers at every National Information Dissemination Centre (NADI) nationwide.

MCMC NADI Office Head Dr Mohd Arif Adenan said the programme forms part of the government’s broader effort to enhance digital literacy and ensure that no community is left behind amid rapid technological advancement.

He explained that participants undergo intensive training using specialised AI modules before earning certification from the MIMOS Academy, the training arm of the Malaysian Institute of Microelectronic Systems (MIMOS).

“They will then serve as ‘agents of change’ to help communities adopt AI technology safely and responsibly.

“This means that anyone who wants to learn about AI does not need to enrol in costly courses. Instead, they can seek guidance from the prompt engineers stationed at every NADI centre.

“We aim to nurture AI talent in rural communities and create opportunities for young people to work remotely from their hometowns, without having to migrate to cities in search of employment,” he told Bernama recently.

Mohd Arif said the presence of AI prompt engineers at every NADI centre would not only improve public AI literacy but also help curb the misuse of technology and reduce the risk of online fraud.

He said the initiative is part of the NADI 2.0 transformation, which has expanded the role of NADI centres from providing internet access to serving as community development hubs through the five pillars of NADI Smart Services.

The five pillars are entrepreneurship, lifelong learning, health, digital awareness, cybersecurity, and the dissemination of information on government initiatives.

According to him, since the introduction of NADI Smart Services in September 2024, more than 21,000 people have participated in entrepreneurship programmes that helped them gain access to financing, obtain Halal certification, and improve product packaging.

In education, he said, some 42,000 students have benefited from the free “Tuisyen Rakyat” programme, with 65 students from B40 households achieving straight A’s in the latest Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.

Mohd Arif added that NADI centres nationwide have also conducted more than 147,000 basic health screenings, including blood pressure, blood glucose, and Body Mass Index (BMI) checks.

“Under NADI 2.0, we have shifted from an ‘inward’ to an ‘outward’ approach, making NADI the focal point of community services. People no longer need to visit a centre physically to benefit from its programmes.

“For example, the NADI on Wheels (NOW) initiative, equipped with satellite connectivity and digital devices, has been deployed to remote communities and orphanages. It was also recently mobilised to temporary relief centres in Melaka to improve internet connectivity for flood victims,” he said.

He added that MCMC has also enhanced access to NADI services through the nadi.my portal, enabling the public to access digital learning materials, entrepreneurship programmes, and training modules online.

According to Mohd Arif, the initiative supports MCMC’s vision of transforming NADI into a sustainable community digital hub that remains relevant in meeting the evolving technological needs of Malaysians.
