SHAH ALAM: The Selangor government has activated all personnel and assets in preparation for Tropical Storm Senyar.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the storm is forecast to bring persistent heavy rain and strong winds.
He confirmed that 1,173 temporary relief centres are available across the state.
These centres have the capacity to accommodate nearly 244,000 residents if evacuations become necessary.
“This includes schools, mosques, community halls and village halls, all of which are properly equipped with essential supplies,” he said.
Amirudin stated that 344 vehicles and 227 boats have been positioned at strategic locations.
These assets will be used for delivering supplies and conducting potential search-and-rescue operations.
He has directed relevant agencies to inspect all deployed vehicles for operational readiness.
The state also has 45 warning sirens for activation if water levels reach dangerous stages.
“I urge all Selangor residents to remain vigilant for any warnings or evacuation orders issued by the authorities or community leaders,” he said.
“If sirens in your residential area are activated and an evacuation order is given, please comply immediately and register your entire family at the nearest PPS.”
Amirudin emphasised that resident safety is the top priority throughout the weather phenomenon.
The storm is expected to begin as early as midnight today and persist until Saturday.
The state government will maintain close contact with the Meteorological Department.
Coordination will occur through the State Disaster Management Unit and National Disaster Management Agency.
All official announcements will be updated according to developing situations.
