Tan Sri Megat Najmuddin Megat Khas, a former Selangor assemblyman and corporate chairman, has passed away from cancer at the age of 81
KUALA LUMPUR: Veteran politician and corporate figure Tan Sri Megat Najmuddin Megat Khas has passed away from cancer at the age of 81.
The news was confirmed by his niece, Shafinaz Suhaimi, when contacted by Bernama.
He died at a private medical centre in Petaling Jaya last night.
His niece, Puteri Kamaliah Megat Abu Bakar, first shared the news of his passing on Facebook.
His remains will be taken to the At-Taqwa Mosque in Taman Tun Dr Ismail at 9am on Sunday for funeral rites.
He will be buried at the Bukit Kiara Muslim Cemetery.
Megat Najmuddin served as the State Assemblyman for Kelana Jaya, Selangor, for two terms starting in 1986.
He was also a member of the UMNO Disciplinary Board and Chairman of the Bersatu Disciplinary Board.
In the corporate sector, he held several key chairman roles.
These included Independent Non-Executive Chairman of Farm Fresh Berhad and Chairman of Asian Pac Holdings Berhad.
He was also the Non-Independent Non-Executive Chairman of Sime Darby Plantation Berhad. – Bernama
