Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim welcomes the reappointment of three key ministers as senators, ensuring policy continuity under the Malaysia MADANI framework.

PUTRAJAYA: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has welcomed the reappointment of three ministers as senators for a second term.

The ministers are Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir and Datuk Dr Mohd Na’im Mokhtar.

Their new terms are effective from today until December 2, 2028.

The Prime Minister’s Office stated the reappointments enable the ministers to continue key responsibilities crucial to policy continuity and governance.

This is part of the national reform agenda under the Malaysia MADANI framework.

“The Prime Minister will finalise the list of MADANI Government ministers and deputy ministers after a careful and prudent review,” the PMO said.

It added the review is guided fully by the people’s interests and the nation’s reform direction.

Earlier today, the three took their oath of office as senators before Dewan Negara president Datuk Awang Bemee Awang Ali Basah.

This enables them to continue as Home Minister, Higher Education Minister and Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs), respectively.

The reappointments were made by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia.

They are in accordance with Article 45(1)(b) of the Federal Constitution.

All three were first sworn in as senators in December 2022.
