BN Sabah candidate vows to fix Karanaan’s infrastructure woes

Barisan Nasional’s Karanaan candidate pledges to tackle damaged roads, water shortages and power disruptions if elected in the Sabah state election.

KOTA KINABALU: Barisan Nasional candidate Md Nadzmin Kamin has pledged to focus on Karanaan’s three main issues – damaged roads, water supply and frequent power disruptions – if elected.

The 40-year-old candidate faces a seven-cornered fight for the seat under the Ranau parliamentary constituency, approximately 106 kilometres from here.

He said these problems continue to undermine the local economy, particularly tourism, agriculture and livestock sectors.

“Damaged roads make it difficult for operators to transport their produce to market,” he said in a statement after a walkabout in Nagaya and Tudan.

“Congestion in Ranau town and the narrow road to Kundasang and Poring affect tourists’ experience.”

He added that water and electricity supply disruptions affect homestay operators, small factories and dairy product entrepreneurs.

Md Nadzmin believes only through an experienced and people-centric government can Ranau, particularly Karanaan, be restored as a hub for modern agriculture and sustainable tourism.

“Karanaan needs a new assemblyman who can drive more progressive development in infrastructure, basic amenities and local economic opportunities,” he said.

He called on residents to work together to develop the area into a more competitive and progressive constituency.

Md Nadzmin faces six other candidates: Karim Adam of KDM, Mohd Anuar Abdul Ghani (STAR), Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun (GRS), Mukinin @ Mazlan Daiman (Warisan), Naomi @ Neomi Francis (Independent) and Georgina L George (UPKO).

In the 2020 state election, the Karanaan seat was won by Perikatan Nasional candidate Masidi with a 4,814-vote majority. – Bernama
