Sabah election candidates intensify campaigns on key local issues

Candidates in the Sabah state election focus on infrastructure, education and development, with GRS contesting 55 seats and PH 22 seats

KOTA KINABALU: Campaigning for the 17th Sabah State Election intensified as candidates entered their third day of voter outreach.

Barisan Nasional’s Karanaan candidate Md Nadzmin Kamin prioritised damaged roads, unreliable water supply and electricity disruptions.

He stated these issues continue to strangle the local economy including tourism, agriculture and livestock sectors.

Pakatan Harapan’s Tanjung Aru candidate Datuk Chang Foong Hin continued touring Pulau Gaya to bring structured development.

The Deputy Minister of Plantation and Commodities committed to ensuring Pulau Gaya is not left behind in Sabah’s development.

He promised welfare initiatives and phased development programmes for resident wellbeing.

Another PH candidate Philip Yap Wui Lip made education his cornerstone campaign issue in Sri Tanjong.

While attending an Education Charity Concert, he expressed support for school development and interacted with educators.

“The efforts of educators and the commitment of the organising committee are a source of pride for Tawau,” he said.

He highlighted that Chinese education has received various concrete support under the MADANI Unity Government.

GRS is contesting 55 out of 73 state seats with 33% being new faces while PH is contesting 22 seats. – Bernama
