An Israeli group releases an AI-generated video of Ran Gvili, the final captive whose body remains in Gaza, appealing to Trump for repatriation.
JERUSALEM: An Israeli group representing hostage families has released an AI-generated video of the last captive whose body is held in Gaza.
The Hostages and Missing Families Forum published the one-minute clip of Ran Gvili on Tuesday.
It depicts an AI-generated image of Gvili sitting in a Gaza tunnel appealing to US President Donald Trump.
“Mr President, I’m asking you to see this through: Please bring me home,” says the AI figure.
Gvili was 24 and an officer in Israel’s Yasam elite police unit during the October 7, 2023 attack.
He was shot at the Alumim kibbutz before being taken to Gaza where he later died.
Israeli authorities informed his parents in January 2024 that he did not survive his injuries.
The Forum stated the video was released with his family’s approval.
“Seeing and hearing Rani speak in his own voice is both moving and heartbreaking,” his mother Talik said.
She pleaded that authorities not move forward in agreements without bringing him home.
The Gaza ceasefire that began in October remains fragile with alleged violations by both sides.
Palestinian militants were to return all remaining 48 hostages, living and dead, in the first phase.
Militants have released 47 hostages since the truce took effect on October 10.
Later phases involve Israeli withdrawal and an interim authority replacing Hamas in Gaza.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is expected to meet Trump this month to discuss the deal’s next phase.
