Ukraine drone strike kills one in Russian city of Tver

A Ukrainian drone attack on Tver city kills one person and wounds two, as Russia reports downing 129 drones overnight across more than 20 regions.

MOSCOW: A Ukrainian drone strike killed one person and wounded two others in the western Russian city of Tver.

Regional authorities confirmed the attack on Tuesday, which occurred before the start of talks between Ukrainian allies and top US envoys in Paris.

Acting Tver regional governor Vitaly Korolev said a fire broke out when a drone fragment struck an apartment block.

The regional government stated one person died and two received medical care on site, adding that an investigation is underway.

The Paris talks seek a breakthrough on a plan to end the fighting, which Kyiv says is “90%” ready.

Nearly four years into the conflict, Russia continues daily bombardments of Ukraine while making slow territorial gains.

Ukraine has responded with drone attacks, particularly targeting Russian energy infrastructure.

Russia’s defence ministry said its air defence systems shot down 129 Ukrainian drones overnight on Tuesday.

While the figure is not a record, the drones were intercepted over more than 20 regions, an unusually wide distribution.

Interceptions included 29 drones over Bryansk and 15 over Belgorod, two regions bordering Ukraine.
