The Youth and Sports Ministry allocates RM100 million to KWASN, GPS, and DSK funds, with applications opening online from Dec 15.
PUTRAJAYA: The Youth and Sports Ministry has allocated a total of RM100 million for three major sports funds under the 2026 budget.
Minister Hannah Yeoh said RM50 million is for the National Sports Trust Fund, RM30 million for the Sports Matching Grant, and RM20 million for the Community Sports Fund.
Detailed terms and application schedules will be uploaded on the ministry’s website starting December 15.
“I also want to emphasise that KBS, as well as all agencies under the ministry that provide allocations, do not impose any charges or commissions, nor do we appoint runners,” Yeoh said.
She urged applicants to contact the ministry directly, stating the allocations are for all eligible groups.
The Sports Matching Grant provides reimbursement for organising high-performance tournaments at state, national, and international levels.
Events delivering significant impact to Malaysia may receive approvals of up to RM1 million.
The Community Sports Fund offers one-off assistance prioritising registered sports associations and youth clubs.
It will also be extended next year to organisations registered under the Registrar of Societies.
Applications below RM10,000 will be paid directly, while larger amounts are disbursed in stages.
The National Sports Trust Fund is open to private athletes in Olympic or officially contested sports.
Only overseas tournaments with world-ranking status will be considered for funding. – Bernama
