Flood relief centres close in Kelantan and Kedah as waters fully recede, while evacuee numbers drop in Selangor, Terengganu, Perak, Pahang and Perlis
KUALA LUMPUR: Floodwaters in Kelantan and Kedah have fully receded, with all temporary relief centres now closed.
The situation is also improving in five other states, according to the latest disaster management updates.
In Kelantan, the two remaining relief centres in Pasir Mas were closed at 3.30 pm today.
All 67 evacuees from 21 families have been allowed to return home.
Kelantan Civil Defence Force acting director Lt Col (PA) Mohd Farid Ishak advised residents to remain alert to weather updates.
“In the event of another wave of flooding, residents are reminded to immediately relocate to the nearest relief centre,” he said.
He also urged people to switch off electrical supplies before leaving their homes to prevent incidents.
In Kedah, two relief centres in the Kubang Pasu district were closed at 2 pm.
All evacuees from centres opened on November 25 and 26 have now returned home.
In Selangor, the number of evacuees dropped to 1,464 people from 413 families this afternoon.
This is down from 1,835 people from 523 families recorded this morning.
The number of operational relief centres in the state has also decreased to 21 across four districts.
In Terengganu, only 31 people from 20 families remain at a single relief centre as of 4 pm.
Four schools in Kuala Terengganu remain closed due to the flood impact.
In Perak, evacuee numbers declined to 3,402 people from 1,008 families in 19 centres.
Hilir Perak remains the worst-affected district with 1,716 evacuees.
In Pahang, the number of evacuees dropped to 149 people from 39 families.
Bera district has the highest number with 107 people housed in four centres.
Sungai Pahang has exceeded the danger level at two locations in Pekan and Maran.
In Perlis, evacuee numbers fell sharply from 1,351 people this morning to 696 by 4 pm.
Only four relief centres remain operational in Padang Besar, Kangar and Arau. – Bernama
