Flood evacuees in Perak drop to 141, while numbers in northern Sarawak rise to 191 as four relief centres remain open
KUALA LUMPUR: The flood situation in Perak has improved while conditions in northern Sarawak have worsened.
In Perak, the number of evacuees dropped to 141 people from 42 families this morning.
This is down from 147 people from 43 families sheltered at three relief centres last night.
The Perak State Disaster Management Committee Secretariat said Hilir Perak district has 117 victims from 35 families.
Manjung district recorded 24 evacuees from seven families.
The Department of Irrigation and Drainage reported the Slim River is at an alert level of 25.11 metres.
The river’s normal level is 23.50 metres.
In Sarawak, the number of flood victims increased to 191 people as of 8 am today.
This is up from 130 evacuees recorded last night.
Four relief centres remain open in northern Sarawak to accommodate them.
The Sarawak SDMC Secretariat detailed the distribution of victims across the centres.
The Dewan Bulan Sabit Merah centre in Miri is housing 36 evacuees.
This includes four victims from a landslide incident at Kampung Lusut Jaya Taman Tungku.
The SK Kampung Angus centre is sheltering 13 victims.
The SK Suai Niah centre is accommodating 89 victims.
The Dewan Suarah Bintulu centre is housing 54 victims. – Bernama
