Negeri Sembilan health department urges blood donations during Ramadan

The Negeri Sembilan Health Department calls for continued blood donations during Ramadan to maintain hospital supplies for emergencies and treatments

SEREMBAN: The Negeri Sembilan Health Department has urged the public to continue donating blood throughout the fasting month of Ramadan.

Its director Dr Zuraida Mohamed said this is crucial to ensure sufficient blood supply at state hospitals for emergencies, surgeries, and chronic disease treatments.

She emphasised that donating blood during Ramadan is safe and can be done at convenient times.

“Blood donation during Ramadan is safe and can be done at suitable times, either before 9 am, provided donors delay their sahur, or after breaking fast,” she said.

Dr Zuraida noted that many donors prefer to come at night for a more comfortable environment.

She assured potential donors that all procedures are safe and monitored by trained healthcare personnel.

Donors are also advised to get adequate rest and maintain a balanced diet before and after donating.

Dr Zuraida highlighted that every bag of donated blood is meaningful and can save several lives.

This act of giving aligns with the spirit of Ramadan, she added.
