JAKARTA: Continuous rain has triggered flooding in several parts of the Indonesian capital, affecting 28 neighbourhoods and 44 roads.
The Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) deployed personnel to monitor conditions and coordinate water-pumping operations with other departments.
These efforts are being conducted with local sub-district heads and district heads, while also preparing basic necessities for affected residents.
The operations involve the Water Resources Agency, the Highway Agency, and the Fire and Rescue Department.
BPBD said it targets the floodwaters to recede quickly and urged the public to stay cautious and vigilant.
Members of the public shared updates on social media, posting images showing vehicles and houses partially submerged.
Images included the basement parking areas of shopping malls affected by the rising waters.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency forecast cloudy skies with light rain across all areas of Jakarta.
According to BMKG data, temperatures are expected to range between 22 and 27 degrees Celsius.
Humidity levels are forecast to be between 77% and 97% throughout the day.
